It’s really simple. I needed money. A lot of money. One million dollars to be exact. The amount didn’t matter. All that mattered is that at the end of that price tag held my father’s life.
No money. No life.
The time limit was one year. On January 1st I had to pay up or my Father was going to be killed.
When you’re faced with an ultimatum like this, you do whatever you have to do.
And that’s exactly what I did.
Warning: This book is designed for audiences 18+ due to language and graphic sexual content.
Calendar girls is one of those books I saw advertise on Facebook, I liked the Fifty Shades of Gray trilogy so I thought let’s give it a try.
I watched the book trailer and was drawn in a little bit more into the story. I wanted to know more, I couldn’t close the window and leave without knowing. I had to know what happened to Mia.
I quickly typed Amazon into my web browser and located the book, I downloaded it straight to the kindle app on my IPad and started to read.
I was hooked from the first page, Mia is a hopeless romantic who falls in love with every guy she sleeps with. She describes her encounters with hopeless ex boyfriends including Taylor, her high school sweet heart and Maxwell the teaching assistant in her phycology class. She explains how she fell for each of them and the traits each individual had.
As we delve further into the story we discover Mia has a best friend who actually talks sense, “you’ve always been in love with love-“ , as well as a complicated ‘relationship’ with her ex-boyfriend. She needs money and she needs it fast, so she takes a job her Auntie is offering. The job isn’t something she takes lightly and finds it hard to deal with.
The job she takes is being an escort, however because of the amount of money she needs to make her auntie decides the only way to make that much money is to take client who request her services for a month at a time. So every month at the turn of the calendar she moves on to a new client, a new city and new opportunities.
The first book introduces to Wes, a movie director, he set some harsh ground rules that Mia decides to stick to, after all she has fallen in love with every man she has ever slept with, she is determined this time she will leave emotions at the curb.
Wes shows her things she has never seen, he treats her with respect and exactly like she should be treated. She accompanies him to his business engagements, meets his parents and spends all the time she needs with him, alone.
Wes teaches her how to surf, shows her how much fun life really is when she isn’t playing Mum to her baby sister or working two jobs to get by.
But at the end of the month she has to leave, she has a new client and a new duty to fulfil.
After reading this book I was left with so many questions, I understand that it is a series of books and the more of them I read the more information I will receive, but I felt like Mia fell in love with Wes, for the first time in her a life she fell for a guy who treated her like she ought to be and not like something they stood in.
The story illustrated so much love between these two characters yet she was always destined to leave him behind at the turn of the month. i found myself talking out loud, uttering warnings to Mia, don’t get in too deep you have to leave.
This book had me hooked from page one, it was an emotional rollercoaster of highs and some terrible lows which only made me feel closer to Mia.
I have already downloaded the remaining books in this series knowing without a doubt that I will love them.
My only remaining question is, will Mia return to Wes?
